Ever think about going to college? It is a big decision that one needs to make and in order to make the proper decision one needs to consider a few things. One is it better to attend a community college first before transferring to an University after having earned enough credits. Or is it better for a person to just skip all of that all together and attend an online University. Well, I have to tell you I have done both the community college and the online university and I will tell you a little bit about what I know.
First if you are going to a community college you are going to have to worry about scheduling. Usually those college's are going to cater to the folks that work so most of the classes are going to be at night. Not always of course. But you are going to have to worry about your schedule if you have a job besides school. That can be a problem with scheduling. Some employers are not too happy about working with the person that has to go to school and is unable to attend the schedule that is already made up in advance. Nowadays there are many people that are desperate for jobs and I am sure that someone would love to have the job. Not only that there is the fact that you are going to have to sit in a class room for at least 2-3 hours at a time. I was even in one class that lasted 5 hours if you can believe that. If you have any back problems you are going to have to worry about that situation.
Online college is very convenient for the person that is working and has other activities besides just going to college. I personally attend the University of Phoenix and how it works there is you only take one class at a time and you are considered full time. It is great you can focus on your work at hand and get all of the work for the class done without distractions. Not only that you can have a life besides school. If is really something to consider if you are going to be going to college. But, make sure that the college you are considering is accredited this is very important.

Hi Stephanie. Interesting post.
I have taken both online and on-site classes. I have a few required courses I am taking at MCC before transferring back to NAU. I went to NAU for 3 years as a Business major, quit to start my own businesses over a decade ago. Back in school now as an Education major. I'll be returning to NAU through their distance education program.
Education courses require that we gain familiarity with the needs of a diverse range of students. We briefly covered TBI in our Exceptional Student course. One of the issues I have found as an Education student is the lack of ability to actually discuss or learn about disabilities from families.
I wonder, since you blog, if you have any plans to create some videos on youtube or elsewhere about TBI.
Raquel,
Thank you so much for your comment and I want to say that I have not thought about putting anything on you tube but the possibility is always open. Now that you have given me that idea I may think about that.
Thanks,
Steph
